i have an awesome secret. if you see a ring of daisies and dig down into the center it will lead to a vein of either diamond or emerald

You can feed a poisonous potato to an animal to make it a permanent baby.
What the fuck

in the crucial guide "vanilla changes" section, there is an article on "matrix enchanting" (quark's rework of the enchantment system). it also mentions that most (but not all) enchantments can have their chances of appearing increased with dyed candles.
well, candles also stack up to 4x on a single block, so you can use less blocks to store more candles
ANOTHER NOTE: don't place your candles in that 3x3 area around the enchantment table, because the enchantment table only picks up the "closest" ring of bookshelves to boost its efficiency; if you place any candles between the bookshelves (as they're arranged in this photo) and the table, all of the bookshelves will be nullified.
"Nourishment" is a really good status effect to have on hand; it prevents you from losing hunger from anything besides healing, so you can run or turn a hand crank or eat rotten flesh without draining your hunger bar ludicrously fast. however, a lot of the dishes that give it are a bit complex; nourishment is a "large meals" status effect
ratatouille is probably the simplest meal to get for nourishment, especially if you're a farmer/averse to killing animals. 1 tomato, 1 onion, 1 beetroot, and 1 of any vegetable in a Farmer's Delight cooking pot.
i ought to make a post about the explorer's set and the yak pants, but long story short they're VERY good. architect's belt gives you longer reach (not just building, but for digging and shit too) and the wanderer's boots give you passive speed. healer's pouch and thief's hood may be interesting to look into if you get in a lot of combat. yak pants give you speed while on a mount and step height (so you dont have to jump up 1 block slopes)

Reforming (enchantment that slowly increases a tool's durability over time without xp gain) works if it's being held by an armor stand. But they aren't kidding about it being slow

so Something Weird happened to us while we were working on our dungeon. we noticed a zombie walking towards us from across the room, easy, took out sword and killed it in two hits. totally normal zombie. we backed up so we could get back to work but then a burst of green particles appeared and spawned two more zombies, both with heavy armor, which i killed and then waited and nothing else showed up. i'll admit it was pretty spooky, does anyone know what the fuck that was
