Will's Pikmin Hell

Wow, the difficulty spike in this game really is something, huh. I guess it makes sense for technically finishing the game, but wow, they really just throw everything at you once you get to the Wistful Wild.

There's an overworld treasure immediately in front of the entrance that requires 100 Purple Pikmin.

I don't even have 20..........

Finished Frontier Cavern and all I want is Bulbmin forever, they're my favorites now. I like them so much more than Pikmin. I'm sorry, Pikmin.

Bulbmin are so good. Also holy shit Submerged Castle is so stressful looking. That level gave me nightmares when I watched it on the playthrough of Pikmin 2 I watched as a kid.

I finished Pikmin 2 yesterday and today finally started on Pikmin 3.

Final thoughts on Pikmin 2: man, Wistful Wild is just a slog. The rest of the game is actually pretty fun, and in retrospect Submerged Castle is some of the most interesting gameplay you get, but Wistful Wild is just nonstop bullshit. Long, too. I like Pikmin as a pick-up-put-down game.

As for Pikmin 3 - I never liked it much, not of what I saw of it, but jeez, it's actually really good. More thoughts to come when I'm less depressed.

Quoting this from the wiki because I don't know how to better summarize it:

Quote:In Pikmin 3, Pikmin that carry a Burgeoning Spiderwort berry or nugget to the S.S. Drake, deliver a grape from the Dawn Pustules or Dusk Pustules, or fit a piece of a bridge or hay will start making their way back to the location they started carrying from. If there's nothing else to do there, they idle, but if there are more objects to collect, they will begin working on that automatically.

This is the worst part of the game. IMHO, just leave them at the spot they dropped the item off at, once the pile is empty. It's not like it's immersion-breaking, they can literally see the pile is empty, with their eyeballs. I don't know I just hate asking myself "why am I missing 20 Pikmin" and they're out standing in their field

I finished Pikmin 3 in two days... I don't think I was playing it any faster or more heavily than Pikmin 2. So I guess I would say, what was there was really good, but it was REALLY short.

Now I'm waiting on Pikmin 4 to come in the mail and then I can finally meet my best friend Oatchi

I forced myself to take a break from Pikmin 4 in hopes that it would get me to do something else so I finished Pikmin 1!

It's actually a surprisingly good game. I wish I had given it more of a fair shake, but 2->3->4->1 actually feels like a natural way to proceed, because the other games familiarize you with a lot of the concepts that go towards playing the first game really well.
