Games That Come With Toys |

Thread for games that come with a physical accessory toy! First thing that comes to mind for a lot of people would be something like the Pokéwalker (which Is very cool) but I want to open this thread because I discovered a relatively obscure one in the used games store just the other day and I love what it's doing with the accesory, and I would love to hear about more stuff like this, especially other peoples' favorite touys.
So recently I went to a local used games store to see if they have any good games for me to download later discover casually and there were three washed-out copies of a game called "Wappy Dog", and my first thought was, oh shit! This looks like a cute Nintendogs-type game where you can take care of a silly robot puppy! Let me look it up to confirm that.
So I did, and it gets better: it's both that AND one of those physical robot pet toys that became a mini-craze in the mid-late 2000s, mainly through iDog but I remember there being quite a few variations from different companies. I was crazy about the iDog growing up, though I never got one myself, since they were hard to find even back then and the prices for them nowadays are kind of meh.
....So yeah as soon as I realized this was a thing I grabbed a Wappy Dog toy off of eBay for 20 bucks. No DS game came with it, but you don't even need a physical copy; the toy interacts with sound instead of through infrared or anything like that. ...Maybe you could even get the robot OR the ds game to work on its own by using just a video of the other...? Well, anyway.
The gameplay is really cute and consists of two modes; a "home mode" where you "talk" to Wappy though commands on the DS game and the robot talks back and moves around, and a "travel mode" where you do typical Nintendogs gameplay stuff, like feeding, playing and doing tricks.
I really recommend looking up some videos of the gameplay or even playing it yourself; it's a really cute game (and I'm pretty sure you don't even need the toy to play with the travel mode). I don't think it'll knock your socks off, especially playing it as an adult, but I really love the novelty and the attempt at combining two distinct kinds of virtual pet. It makes me wish someone would do more with this concept in the future, but that kind of depends on a lot of factors, mainly something like the DS ever coming out again (unlikely. the switch certainly doesn't really match the DS's vibe and appeals.) but for now, Wappy Dog is really neat and I'd love to hear about more stuff like it.
To close off, here's one of the Really good, extremely on-the-nose trailers for Wappy.
"I think he's great :-)"

So You Thought You Died, And You Didn’t, We Promise: A Beginner’s Guide
If you’re anything like the rest of our wonderful residents, the chances are high that you woke up on a shipwrecked boat. You probably thought that you had not survived your crash, at first, and as you wandered into the flower fields, you may have developed the delusion that you are now in some kind of heavenly paradise. This is absolutely false! Welcome to Nariko, where you are most assuredly not dead!
Like many people who nearly died, but did not, you probably have some questions. We will do our best to answer them!
Questions, and Answers
Where am I now?
Your boat is conveniently wrecked on Shaumo Coast, a tidy little beachside port with not a lot to say for it. You may not be impressed now, but make your way south and you’ll find the bridge to Nariko, your new home!
And what a home it is - we have everything an aspiring adventurer could ask for! A well-stocked library (doesn't exist yet), a warehouse with resources provided by our loving residents (doesn't exist yet), farms for all of your major needs (kinda), and plenty of space to build whatever you want (please don't build inside Nariko)! Oh my, this document is ancient, isn't it?
What was I doing on that boat?
You were one of the crew of the esteemed S.S. Houndstooth, which was some kind of boat doing boat things out in the ocean or something! You were a crew member - maybe even the captain! - and you survived when the boat disastrously beached itself. Plenty of your fellow surviving crew members have already woken up and settled comfortably into town - why not join them? Or don’t!
How many other survivors were there? What exactly was your role on the boat? And WERE you the captain? We’re moving on to the next part now!
Why are you making me live in this town?
We’re not ''making'' you! You have the choice to leave at any time. In fact, if you’re thinking about leaving, you’re free to go through the Underside and dump yourself off at a remote location! It’s no skin off of my nose!
But why did we even build this generous and idyllic little village for you to live in, free of charge and with all amenities provided for? That’s because we believe that a happy community is one that works together! We don’t really believe in things like “leaders” or “organization” or “centralized government”. We think that if everybody works together, everyone will get what they want! Isn’t that nice and fun?
Also Check Out…
Well, we’ve got fucking nothing to see right now. Watch this space! Come back later!

PAVE Act: They've Come For Our Furries |

For the past few years I've been asking "is there anywhere on the internet to post adult content that doesn't actively hate you?" Well, it's only gotten worse, folks!
A Statewide NSFW Ban? Inside North Carolina’s PAVE Act
Quote:If you’re a furry, a sex worker, an adult content creator, or just someone who likes using PornHub, then chances are you’ve heard of the PAVE Act. This new North Carolina law, which went into effect on January 1, 2024, has radically altered the way local residents can use the internet.
In particular, sites that primarily host explicit sexual content have pulled the plug on the Old North State’s users, forcing them to use VPNs and other means to combat the law’s effects. While the PAVE Act has brought PornHub and furry imageboard e621 to their knees in North Carolina, the law isn’t necessarily a “ban” on NSFW content—not in name, at least.
Rather, it’s an act that foreshadows future bills to come across Republican-dominated legislatures, suggesting Americans living in red states might soon find their access to pornographic content de facto controlled by their local governments.
E621 has this to say:
Quote:Dec 31st: Due to the current legal situation in North Carolina and the uncertainty surrounding it, we will be blocking access to e621.net from North Carolina until we can consult with our legal counsel on this matter. We did not come to this decision lightly and we will do what we can, as we can, to rectify and remedy this situation so that we can restore access to those users that are affected by this matter. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience and will have an update as soon as possible.

Lost a pet? Post it here. Found someone's dropped inventory? Post it here. Coordinates (press F3 and look for XYZ) are always helpful.
NOT for requesting an item you didn't have in the first place (e.g. 64 million stone blocks); I'll make that thread separately.

Prerequisites - Prism Launcher for your OS
- Crucial 2: Yolked, the modpack that Eggcraft runs on
- Java 8 (you probably already have this if you've played Minecraft 1.16.5 before)
- Patreon pledge of at least $1
How to Play - Open Prism Launcher. If it asks you for a Java version, select 8.
- Create a new instance. Select Minecraft version 1.16.5. Under Import (left side), select the Crucial 2: Yolked zip.
- There is one mod that will not automatically install. Prism Launcher will give you a link to download it. Download it to your default Downloads folder; Prism Launcher will automatically recognize it and copy it to your instance's folder.
- Follow the Server Info thread from here if you don't know how to connect to Eggcraft.
Getting Started - You will spawn on a small island. There will be a lectern on it with a book you can read.
- If you want to make any lore-compliant builds like personal houses, please wait at least a week for me to finish setting up Nariko!
- If you want to build a dirt house or random shit, I would recommend going northwest from spawn (in the opposite direction of the Nether portal viewable from spawn) as I am working in the area southeast from spawn. In lore these will be considered ancient ruins.
- If you just want to mine, you can help yourself anywhere.
Yes, the server is being launched extremely early. But I promised January 1st and I meant it, dammit!

okay. i figure if i ask in discord "what is something you experienced as a kid (probably in a video game or on the internet) that was unexpectedly haunting/strange/powerful and has stuck with you" people wouldnt be able to summon experiences to mind on the fly. so im gonna make a thread for it instead.
it doesnt HAVE to be from your childhood but im citing it becasue when youre a kid i feel like youre more vulnerable to seeing like. a weird powerful significance in otherwise normal or strange-but-not-too-out-there occurrences. that and people just put Whatever The Fuck in front of a child's eyes without thinking too hard about it

Panera's lethal lemonade strikes again |

About a month ago, I discussed a topic that had grown heavy on my mind:
Quote:ive been seeing people get mcdonalds hot coffee over those nightmarish caffeine drinks at panera
"how bad can it be if its at panera"
its the fucking daily maximum intake. its the content of two energy drinks in the size of half. AND its dehydrating sugar water
A friend had this to say:
Quote:that is literally going to kill people
Family sues Panera Bread after college student who drank Charged Lemonade dies
Quote:An Ivy League student with a heart condition died after she drank Panera Bread’s Charged Lemonade, a large cup of which contains more caffeine than cans of Red Bull and Monster energy drinks combined, according to a lawsuit.
The Charged Lemonade was “offered side-by-side with all of Panera’s non-caffeinated and/or less caffeinated drinks” and was advertised as a “plant-based and clean” beverage that contained as much caffeine as the restaurant’s dark roast coffee, according to photos of both the menu and beverage dispensers in the store, which were included in the wrongful death lawsuit.
But at 390 milligrams, the large Charged Lemonade has more caffeine than any size of Panera’s dark roast coffee, the complaint says — numbers that the nutrition facts on Panera’s website confirm. It also has guarana extract, another stimulant, as well as the equivalent of nearly 30 teaspoons of sugar, the complaint continues, adding that 390 milligrams of caffeine is higher than the caffeine content of standard cans of Red Bull and Monster energy drinks combined. Katz had gotten the large cup, which is 30 fluid ounces, according to the attorney representing her family.
Just when I thought I had forgotten about it, guess what crosses my Tumblr dashboard?
Panera Bread’s Charged Lemonade blamed for a second death, lawsuit alleges
Quote:Dennis Brown, of Fleming Island, Florida, drank three Charged Lemonades from a local Panera on Oct. 9 and then suffered a fatal cardiac arrest on his way home, the suit says.
Brown had consumed Charged Lemonades in the days leading up to his death, according to Monday’s wrongful death lawsuit, which was filed in Delaware, where Panera is incorporated.
It is unclear whether Brown knew how much caffeine and other stimulants were in the drink, which at the time of his death was available in self-serve dispensers and “offered side-by-side with all of the store’s non-caffeinated and/or less caffeinated drinks,” the suit says.
I've had one of these. It tasted like licking a car battery. I would not drink one again even if you paid me, especially because I do have a heart condition.
WHEN WILL IT END?
