Bliss Crafting General Thread
Posted by: skinstealer - 08-26-2024, 03:39 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (5)

do you do crafts? maybe you should. it's fun!

here is a thread where you can post any crafts you've made! what constitutes a craft? literally anything. post WIPs, finished projects, ideas, discussion, comments, whatever you want.

(i am also making this thread on the homebrew deviants forums because fuck it why not. forum friendship!)

let me start...

we've started plushmaking for the first time in over 10 years! we're starting how we did back when we were kids, with socks as a primary material. our supplies are pretty limited at the moment, but once we move to our new place and get settled in, we should be able to start thrifting and getting primarily vintage supplies. feely is even going to give us a sewing machine! [Image: tcp_blush_small.png]

here are our two plushes we've made so far:

[image description: a blue, quadrupedal plush made out of blue socks, rainbow striped fabric for the ears, and buttons for the eyes and nose. its eye buttons are round, and are each yellow and red, and its nose button is a giant pink heart. it has a red thread smile, and looks pretty smug. it is also lopsided, and the head is messily attached.]

neither of these guys have names yet, but this is our system's plush. he is a little weirdo! everyone keeps calling him a bat. his ears are a diff fabric due to us uh. cutting the head badly. and don't ask me what his back legs look like. we might give him a tail eventually!

[image description: a solid orange sock plush, complete with an extremely lopsided body and massive bunny ears. its small button eyes are yellow, and it has a blue starfish nose and a shy stitched mouth.]

okay, well. as it turns out, i'm a lot less skilled at plushmaking than bit. plural skill difference continues to be a thing, especially with something we haven't done in 10 years. even so- we made this guy for como, and como loves it. it helps that we aren't distressed at all by lumpy or "misshapen" plushes- we just want to make little guys, and it's fun no matter what. the construction's pretty solid, too! i learned a lot.

i really want to make more of these. like, a lot of these. i'll probably wait until after our move on the second to do so, but man! we're cookin!

these things are also stimmy as fuck. seriously, best plush to aggressively squeeze- and they love it. they really do.

Costco Hot Dog USA deli meat recall
Posted by: brilokuloj - 07-31-2024, 07:47 PM - Forum: Eggy News - No Replies

Boar's Head recalls 7 million more pounds of deli meats tied to listeria outbreak

Quote:The new recall includes 71 products made between May 10 and July 29 under the Boar's Head and Old Country brand names. It follows an earlier recall of more than 200,000 pounds of sliced deli poultry and meat. The new items include meat intended to be sliced at delis as well as some packaged meat and poultry products sold in stores.

They include liverwurst, ham, beef salami, bologna and other products made at the firm's Jarratt, Va., plant.

Full product list

I also learned that the USDA maintains an updated list of currently-active recalls.

Please stay safe!!!

  Gone Fishin'
Posted by: Unknown - 07-20-2024, 01:43 AM - Forum: General Discussion - No Replies

In about 12 hours I will be fishing. I took the day off a month ago for a 'family reunion' which was a huge bust because my dad's cousin wanted a thousand bucks per attendee. So no one is going. And instead, I'm going fishing.

  • Have you ever fished?
  • Do you fish now?
  • When will you fish?

Obligated image of me with a fish from last month's family fishing day event near me:

Dance Records and Record Playing
Posted by: Unknown - 06-18-2024, 02:56 PM - Forum: General Discussion - No Replies

I've recently been the recipient of a bunch of records from my (not) aunt and they're rather fun. She did give me more last year but that stack had a mold problem. But these! They're in overall better condition. But I do miss that stack I sent to the perpetual yard sale outside my window.

As you can imagine it contains such hits as Jingle Jangle Jingle, Don't Fence Me In (With new-to-me preamble???), and Mister Five by Five. Songs that have already lived in my head for years.

How do you feel about records?

Funny Funniest changelogs
Posted by: brilokuloj - 06-16-2024, 03:29 AM - Forum: Clyde's Classics - No Replies

I looooove out-of-context video game changelogs, especially for those super violent tile-based games. They paint such a harrowing view of their world. I figured we could use a thread for them, after I saw some of the recent Goonstation updates:

  • Players will once again lose their shit upon being filled with/covered in ants
  • Walking through fluid puddles will now expose your shoes to them. Acid WILL melt your Jordans.
  • Big Chicken Evolution Refactor. Please report anything strange IMMEDIATELY.
  • New Enby-flag-colored chicken!
  • Eating sponge capsules and then drinking water will now cause them to expand into animals, causing stomach damage in the process. Syndicate sponge capsules are significantly more dangerous.
  • Sponge capsules can now be force-fed to other people.

Minecraft A Play in the Life... of Animal Crossing
Posted by: brilokuloj - 06-15-2024, 06:48 PM - Forum: Let's Play - Replies (15)

A Play in the Life is my new ongoing series where I play "daily" games and post short updates. I'm not so good at doing daily gaming tasks (see Tomodachi Life) without a social group reminding me to, so I'm hoping that having at least community motivation will get me to do it.

The first installment is Animal Crossing for the Gamecube. I'm hoping to finish the debt in all the mainline AC games (except for New Horizons. Sorry) and write about how the game has changed.

I've already played through the tutorial, but I'm going to be splitting it up into chunks for my sanity so I don't have to write a bunch at once like I did with Tomodachi (which I will get back to).

  Build Your Own Net Dream
Posted by: Unknown - 06-14-2024, 12:44 AM - Forum: Clyde's Classics - Replies (12)

I've become particularly fascinated with the mechanics of a certain game. So much so that I went looking to find it myself. To my surprise, it was not hosted on Steam, Itch.io, or any other big company launcher. No, it was hosted on B.Y.O.N.D., or Build Your Own Net Dream.

In a game old enough to buy alcohol, activity is far and between. Many active servers in the game (Yes it's by servers) are run by small groups that require some form of assurance that you won't blow up the ship upon spawn. Very very fair.

But being as I'm intimidated very quickly by anything even remotely 'role playing', to the point of turning off all my electronics in fear, the ask that some servers have for only HRP or 'High Role Play' is very frightening. I can be accused of low quality role playing for not voicing actions enough? What a strangeness. As someone whose last role play attempt in earnest and not fear was when he was 13 on deviantart* and it lasted all of five exchanges, I'm how you say, rusty. Big expectations out of the gate are sure to result in failure and an even bigger fear of trying again.

I've thankfully found some much lower stakes server options in Goonstation, a group whose name has always been about the henchman type. Though I haven't attempted a round yet and have mostly been reading wikis that have yet to tell me what button to push to activate something, it feels leaps and bounds better than it expressing the request that I pretend to fully immerse myself in a little 2d guy who is just gonna get sucked out into space.

*I was a part of a more casual rp group once that was basically just a bunch of people pretending to be adults in a harvest moon (I have never played that game) type setting. I played a priest with a big ol cross earring. It was really earnest at the time.

This article was weirdly hard for me to get through and I don't know why. I hope it's at least funny.
